Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and local accounting regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and organizational skills, demonstrate high integrity, and communicate effectively in both Dhivehi and English.

 
Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all financial transactions.
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage petty cash transactions.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Assist in budget preparation, expense tracking, and variance analysis.

 

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Maldives taxation laws and handle GST, WHT, and other statutory filings.
  • Support external audits by preparing necessary documentation and reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and support the management team in financial planning and forecasting.

 

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with the HR and Admin departments for payroll and staff-related financial activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and clients regarding payment-related matters.
  • Provide timely financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.

 

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Dhivehi (written and spoken).
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • ACCA graduates or students will be given preference.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or Tally).
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations and tax requirements in the Maldives.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Candidates with their own motorbike and a valid driver’s license will be given priority.
